Revolutionizing Healthcare with AI
At the ISSNAF Annual Event 2024, Dr. Giorgio Quer from Scripps Research highlighted how AI is transforming healthcare. He explained how AI can detect and predict conditions like atrial fibrillation (AFib) by analyzing extended ECG data, even when symptoms are absent. AI also offers a breakthrough in cardiac diagnostics by reconstructing a full 12-lead ECG from just three leads. Beyond cardiology, AI is enhancing the detection of systemic diseases from retinal scans and wearable data like resting heart rate. Dr. Quer shared how AI can predict health issues before symptoms appear, as seen in his own experience with bacterial infections and pregnancy-related changes. Looking to the future, Dr. Quer emphasized the power of multimodal AI, integrating various data sources for more accurate predictions, and the potential of fully digital clinical trials, where participants engage remotely. AI, he believes, will revolutionize personalized, predictive medicine.
