Dr. Clarissa Ceruti - ISSNAF new Executive Director

Clarissa Ceruti: an accomplished leader at the intersection of science, business, and innovation steps into a pivotal role.

ISSNAF is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Clarissa Ceruti as its new Executive Director.

She will lead the organization in expanding its programs, fostering international collaborations, and supporting the ISSNAF membership.

Throughout her career, Clarissa has been committed to fostering innovation in the life science arena and facilitating the transfer of technologies from research to commercialization.

With a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Torino, an MBA from Simmons University (Boston, MA), and over 20 years of working experience in the US and Italy, she has developed a unique set of skills to bridge science, business strategy, intellectual property, and technology transfer.

Her career focuses on identifying, evaluating, and maximizing the commercial potential of scientific discoveries, analyzing their patentability, commercial viability, competitive landscape, and strategic market positioning.

Among the different accomplishments, she has contributed to developing marketing strategies across North and South America and building the brand for a UK antibody company across premier academic institutions and biotech companies, assessing technologies for their commercial value, identifying prospective licensees, facilitating partnerships and collaborations between industry and academia, performing market research analysis to pinpoint new market opportunities, scouting for complementary assets, and providing strategic advice throughout licensing negotiations.

In addition to her professional activities, she has developed a passion for teaching and mentoring students or researchers interested in starting a company. She serves as an adjunct faculty member at several Italian institutions, including Università degli Studi di Torino, Università del Piemonte Orientale, University of Bologna, and Bologna Business School teaching courses on innovation management, business plan, intellectual property, and technology transfer in the biotechnology degree program.

Indeed, she considers sharing with her students her experience as a scientist interested in the business side of science and living in the US as well as contributing to develop the next generation of biotech managers and entrepreneurs two rewarding aspects of her teaching.

Clarissa is very excited to join ISSNAF, this is her message to the community:

"Dear members of the ISSNAF community,

I can’t express how delighted I am to be part of ISSNAF and contribute to its growth. In my role as Executive Director, my goal will focus on developing a stronger exchange of researchers, knowledge, and technologies between Italy and North America. I believe that the experience, expertise, and network we possess as ISSNAF constitute an extraordinary asset to enhance and capitalize on. An asset that I envision to apply in implementing activities that highlight both the scientific and the business potential that Italy has to offer.

I am honored to be part of the ISSNAF community, and I look forward to knowing and working with all of you on advancing the mission of the Foundation."
