In 2024, the Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation (ISSNAF) entered into a three-year partnership with Sapienza’s School for Advanced Studies (SSAS).
This agreement underscores ISSNAF's commitment to fostering transatlantic academic exchange, providing qualified SSAS students access to premier universities and cutting-edge research centers in North America for study and training opportunities.
As part of this collaboration, ISSNAF and SSAS will identify 11 outstanding SSAS students in their final year of master’s programs or as doctoral candidates for participation in 2024.
Driving International Mobility partnership with Support from MUR
With the support of the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), ISSNAF is at the forefront of advancing international mobility. In 2023, MUR approved ISSNAF’s proposal to fund a two-year project aimed at systematizing and expanding access to study and research training opportunities across North America.
A newly developed digital platform will streamline the process of gathering and matching offers from ISSNAF’s extensive network with the needs of Italian universities and students. This innovative system will provide a centralized database of mobility opportunities and foster seamless collaboration between Italian institutions and North American research centers.
Enabling Collaborative Growth
ISSNAF’s efforts go beyond facilitating individual opportunities. This initiative focuses on selecting students with projects that align with the interests of both their Italian mentors and North American collaborators, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
The impact of these collaborations will resonate across entire research groups, strengthening ties between Italian and North American institutions, and elevating the visibility of Italian research on the global stage.
Through partnerships like the one with Sapienza’s SSAS, ISSNAF continues to fulfill its mission of empowering the next generation of Italian scholars while driving meaningful, long-term academic and scientific exchange.
